This is an ideal opportunity for a talented writer to break into journalism. We're after someone who can find and write inspiring and informative stories that are of genuine benefit to professional creatives – whether to spark their next idea, develop their skills further, help them make decisions on what tech to buy or understand the challenges our industries face around issues such as diversity.

It'll initially be a 3-month paid contract, with potential for extension. It's a full-time position based at our offices in central London, UK.
Digital Arts in the UK's leading online magazine for creative professionals across graphic and interactive design, illustration, animation, branding, video, CG and more. So that's writing about everything from interviews with up-and-coming illustrators like Martina Paukova to in-depth looks at how the new animated Moomins TV show is being created, from helping designers and artists decide which tablet to buy to why, despite very many diversity efforts, the industry is still lacking in working-class people. And occasionally writing about agency dogs.
The site receives over 4 million page views a month and is published by IDG, the world's leading technology media, data and services company.
We're based opposite the British Library in Kings Cross, London. We're on the 7th Floor and the views across London are rather impressive. We can't make the same claims for the coffee though.
- While we don't expect you to know the creative industries inside out or have well-honed journalistic skills yet – we expect you to have an interest and general understanding of the former – and a natural flair for the latter. You'll be working alongside journalists who have the knowledge and skills, so the ability to learn quickly from them would be in your favour.
- A general knowledge of art and design practice – and the kinds technology and services professional creatives buy – would be useful. However, we don’t expect you to be an accomplished artist or designer – or even be able to draw.
- You should have a fluid writing style that can be both engaging and incisive, fun and sober as best suits the story.
- You should be able to interview leading creatives by email, Skype and in person – and bring out entertaining and informative commentary for your pieces.
- You should have an instinct for the written and visual languages of social media, and be able to promote stories effectively to our over 450,000 social media followers.
- Writing inspiring stories about cutting-edge creative projects.
- Interview leading creatives about how they make incredible things and push themselves further.
- Researching and writing in-depth features about what matters most to our readers - from how to spark creativity to what to do if their work is ripped off to overviews of the latest tech that enables them to do their job better.
- Promoting your stories.
