With digital, TV, and radio audiences in the millions, Forces News offers the chance to show off your talent in an organisation that has a wide and engaged public. We’re looking for a reporter who can explain complex defence stories and technology to a wider audience. The successful candidate will be able to identify, set up, film and deliver multi-platform content that makes their stories relevant to a serving audience and interesting to others.

To get you thinking, you’ll know what makes the F35 a 5th generation fighter jet, and you’ll go away from this advert to look up why Galileo could be hugely important to Britain’s future.

Bursting with story ideas and treatments, you will have a journalism qualification or significant experience, and good technical skills with experience of editing video to deadlines and an understanding that in a digital first world video content has to engage from the first frame.

We are looking for cross-platform reporters with broadcast news / digital experience, who are as happy producing an instagram story as they are making a piece for TV news.

A journalism qualification is essential, knowledge of the military would be an advantage. This position will be based on a mobile contract meaning UK and foreign travel are likely, while evening and weekend working are possible. Flexibility and a full driving licence are required. There may be a future opportunity and requirement to work overseas. Training will be provided for the use of our specific equipment.

If you would like to be considered for this role please send your CV, with a covering letter indicating your salary expectation and how you meet the above criteria, to opportunities@ssvc.com.

The closing date for applications is Friday 21st December 2018
