Monster has taken a further bite into the advertising business of online newspapers by forging a partnership to cross-brand the recruitment areas of 19 New York Times Company websites.

The New York Times and the Boston Globe are among those sites on which Monster will take a presence in March.

The Worcester Telegram & Gazette and newspapers throughout the southeast US and California will also be Monster branded.

Since last summer, Monster has forged job listings deals with around 60 US newspapers in direct competition with Yahoo's HotJobs who, in November, announced partnerships with 175 newspapers, a figure which has now reached more than 200.

The new deal will give Monster's existing recruiting customers the opportunity to cross-advertise in Times Company's print properties with the introduction of a new "click-to-print" feature to allow reverse publishing of job listings as print adverts.

William Pastore, president and CEO of Monster Worldwide, said: "The alliance significantly advances Monster's strategy to provide highly localised online recruitment and career services, allowing Monster to leverage its expertise and full range of solutions in conjunction with the Times Company's award-winning local news outlets and powerful distribution presence."
