The impact of Twitter on journalism and the news industry will be the focus of London's first microblogging event – media140 .

Journalism.co.uk will join journalists from the Times, Guardian, Reuters and Sky News to discuss microblogging as a tool for journalists, how it can be used for local news and the issues around breaking news via Twitter.

Speakers include Tom Whitwell, Times Online assistant editor ( @musicthing ), Paul Bradshaw, lecturer at Birmingham City University ( @paulbradshaw ) and Kevin Anderson, Guardian blogs editor ( @kevglobal ).

All proceeds from the event will go to learning disability charity Mencap.
