Dutch citizen journalism site Skoeps is closing after failing to find a viable financial model for the site.
Skoeps, which was a joint venture between Dutch media groups PcM Uitgevers and Talpa Media, had 7,500 registered contributors, according to the company.
Users submitted 1,500 to 2,000 images and video clips of breaking news each month.
The closure comes in spite of plans for a new payment scheme for contributors announced by the site in March and an investment of €500,000 in advertising in 2007.
