The former Classic FM UK news reporter will work across radio and online platforms for ITN On, where she replaces Peter Murphy, who recently retired after 31 years.

"As the political correspondent for over 250 commercial radio stations and multiple online and mobile outlets Georgie will become a very familiar voice on the media landscape," said Jon Godel, editor of ITN On and IRN, in a press release.

In her last role with Classic FM, Russell prepared hourly audio bulletins for 45 stations across the GCap group.

Prior to joining the station, she presented news bulletins on Southern FM and Kick FM.
