One US web site is bucking the dot-com gloom and winning praise from across America in the wake of the terrorist attacks.

Goodthings.com, the brainchild of Seattle-based Barcy Fisher, is gaining popularity by the day. The site reports only positive news.

It includes, 'great new movies', 'great new plays', 'great new music' and 'constructive news from around the world'. One story currently on the site looks at how cutting-edge radio technology is enabling community development innovation in remote parts of Africa.

Seattle Times columnist Kay McFadden said: "For a Hollywood facing a possible writers' strike and a public that by then may be awash in the dark side of reality, Good Things might have good timing."

And Frank Catalano, KCPQ Tech Editor, (Q13 Reports@Ten) said: "Probably the best thing about Good Things is that it has a practical 'here's how to make a difference in the real world' tone."

Chief executive officer Fisher, who has a staff of five, said people around the world used the site's online forum after the terrorist attacks "as a place to connect".
