The Midland News Association (MNA) is to sell online advertising space by the hour on its newspapers websites.
The ads, which will cost £2 per hour, will feature on the Shropshire Star and Express&Star websites, a press release from the publisher said.
Prospective advertisers can create their own adverts and choose the days and times these appear online as part of the scheme, which uses Scandinavian firm Adicate.
The slots will be paid for online and approved by an MNA administration team.
"For an entry point at only £2 per hour, an advertiser, no matter how small, can now see for themselves just how effective advertising on our websites can be. What other solution can provide time sensitive advertising at such short notice?" Will Beavis, new media marketing manager at MNA, said in a press release.
Advertisers will be able to track click throughs from the ads to their sites in a special area created by the publisher.
