New web traffic figures for six regional newspaper publishers will be released today as part of the Audit Bureau of Circulations Electronic's (ABCe) first six-monthly multiplatform reports for the groups.

Data for 61 online properties and networks will feature in the bi-annual report, with more publishers expected to sign up, a release from the group said.

"These [figures] will be used to underpin the industry's portfolio audience project to develop the first multimedia audience measurement currency this year," said Lynne Anderson, director of the Newspaper Society, in the release.

"The regional press is now firmly established as a multimedia communications business delivering local news and information to more people than ever (…) ABC's new multi-platform report helps to demonstrate that."
