NewsU International, launched in public beta, will feature self-directed modules in a variety of languages
A new online training platform from the Poynter Institute and the International Center for Journalists has launched in public beta, aiming to customise Poynter's News University for international audiences.
NewsU International will feature self-directed modules relevant for journalists, journalism students, bloggers and anyone else interested in developing media skills. The first available courses include Persian programmes on effective multimedia storytelling and understanding the language of images.
According to Poynter's interactive learning director Howard Finberg, a partnership with Prague-based training organisation Transitions OnLine will see modules launched in Russian.
"For future courses, ICFJ and Poynter will continue to work with a variety of local partners and together seek funding for additional courses in languages such as Arabic, Chinese and Spanish," Finberg adds.
