Up to eight editorial jobs are at risk at Kent publisher Archant KOS Media, its managing director confirmed today.

This comes just over five months since KOS Media was acquired by Archant, at which time managing director Paul Stannard had said the company would "benefit from ownership by a large, well financed, independent group with ambitious plans to grow the business".

In a statement today he confirmed that editorial roles were being reviewed, with up to eight jobs at risk.

"We are reviewing all roles and structures throughout the editorial department due to the current economic forecasts and challenging trading conditions.

"We are consulting with the affected staff to discuss the proposals and see what other suggestions they may have about the future structure of the department. There are potentially a maximum of eight jobs at risk."

He added that all of Archant KOS Media's existing brands, which include weekend titles and a series of free weekly papers, will remain in the market. Archant acquired KOS Media in June this year for an undisclosed sum following a restructuring of KOS Media's holding company. Archant had had a minority interest in KOS Media since 2005.
