NME has supplemented its New York news desk by opening an office in Los Angeles as part of its push into the US market and to provide a 24-hour news service.

NME.com will also enhance its news coverage by launching a desktop alerts service to provide breaking news, reviews and rich media.

The site will introduce increased user interactivity and feedback through the launch of a news comment feature in early 2007.

NME, which according to Alexa is the third most popular music news site in the US, recently launched its Club NME gig program in the US. It has also recently announced a content deal with Microsoft Zune.
