The news agency returns to the name it first held in 1868
PA Media has returned to its founding name, the Press Association, in response to dwindling trust towards news.
The news agency held the name Press Association when it was first founded 158 years ago, back in 1868, but rebranded to PA Media in 2019 in a wider strategy to target digital and non-media customers.
Seven years later, it's decided to go back to its original name, which senior executives and editors note signals an increased commitment to its founding principles: accuracy, impartiality, verification and speed.
The move comes as its parent company, PA Media Group, also rebrands as The PA, uniting its portfolio — including Alamy, Podium, StreamAMG and Hydrogen — under one identity centred on trust.
The relaunch coincides with the relocation of the Press Association Academy to a new office in Stratford, London, reflecting continued investment in training the next generation of journalists.
The launch includes an updated Press Association website, alongside a new online destination for The PA and its businesses.
