12 years ago, Laura Bartlett appeared on the TV show Dragons' Den to pitch her magazine to a panel of mega entrepreneurs in the hope of securing investment and scaling the business
But she was turned away. The investors were not sold on the quality, valuation and overall direction of her publication.
She may have walked away without investment, but she gained valuable lessons that she has put to good use. Undeterred, she relaunched her lifestyle and tourism magazine, House of Coco, and turned it into a multimillion-pound media business, which she recently sold, setting her up for life.
