Climate is one of those tricky topics where we in journalism naturally strive for balance and impartiality. The scientific consensus is pretty clear though: this is an urgent topic that needs immediate action. A minority of stakeholders refute the evidence and deny climate change, not least the current US president.
In this week's podcast, we speak with Dr Waqas Ejaz, a research fellow at the Reuters Institute’s Oxford Climate Network who has just published research on the public attitudes toward climate change across eight markets.
We look at the different members of this climate community, from consumers to the policymakers, to the scientists, and even the protest groups - like Just Stop Oil and Extinction Rebellion - that seek media attention and go to extreme lengths to make their voices heard. So how do we balance their airtime?
