The team are completing the challenge to raise funds for Hospitality Action, a charity which offers vital assistance to all who work or have worked in the hospitality industry.
The money they raise for Hospitality Action will go towards grants for essential items including food, equipment, central heating, support for isolated and lonely retired hospitality workers and educational seminars which advise catering students of the dangers of drug and alcohol misuse.
The most common reason for help last year was individuals who needed support with life-changing illness.
Last year Hospitality Action spent £482,755 supporting individuals who are suffering from life altering illnesses, who experience poverty, bereavement and domestic violence and individuals who have retired from the industry and now feel isolated.
Chefs Jobs UK work with individuals within the industry on a daily basis and thought it fitting to raise money for a cause they work very closely to.
Michelle and Jodie have previous experience of taking part in charity bike rides. Last year Michelle cycled from Whitehaven to Tynemouth promoting awareness and raising sponsorship for the Cancer Foundation Rosemere.
Jodie completed the Snowdonia challenge 2012 for Regain, a sports charity which improves the independence of British men and women who have become tetraplegic as a result of a sporting injury.
Commenting on the challenge Jodie said "Being a keen cyclist this is a challenge of a lifetime and to support such a worthwhile cause which is so close to what I do is just fantastic. It’s also a great way to spend my 28th birthday!"
Jodie’s making sure she’s prepared for the event by going to the gym 2-3 times a week and completing 20-40 mile bike rides on days off. Michelle and Katie are preparing by riding various routes in the north.
