The autumn has been a busy time at ESE Direct with new staff appointments made to help the business continue its current expansion. One of the main requirements for the company involved the creation of a new role within its team to ensure an ever increasing product range could be offered to its clients without a negative impact on the business. The company has added over 2,000 new products to its range this year alone and there are 1,000’s more waiting to be added. With so many products from hundreds of manufacturers, it was vital that this aspect of the business was properly managed.
The new position of Product and Purchasing Manager required a person with considerable experience and expertise, and finding the right person for the job took sometime "We were looking for someone to bring a wealth of expertise to our team in terms of product management, procurement, merchandising and catalogue production" said Simon Francis. Although there were many applicants for the position, Caroline stood out as being ideally suited for the role.
"Caroline has many years of experience, she is a valued member of our team and is well underway in the redesign and development of our 2013 catalogue which will be available from 1st February next year" says Simon.
Caroline has made one of the longest journeys to work possible, having moved from 'down under' to live near the company’s HQ in Norwich. Before joining ESE Direct she gained considerable experience at Staples Australia (formally known as Corporate Express Australia), in addition to several other very large UK companies. With ESE Direct already offering some of the best lead times and prices in the industry, Caroline certainly has good foundations on which to build.
Part of the new role involves overseeing existing suppliers and building new relationships to continue to offer the best products to ESE customers. "With so many suppliers, it is important that this side of the business is properly managed to ensure our company can continue to offer the best lead times in the industry and the highest quality products at the best prices possible" says Simon. If products cannot be sourced on time this will impact on delivery times, and this is something which ESE Direct has always been highly proactive in avoiding. It is clear that it would not be possible to continue to provide the same level of exceptional service without the creation of this new position.
"We are about to launch a brand new printed product catalogue together with a new online version, and have hundreds of new additions to the product range planned. There will certainly be plenty to keep Caroline busy over the coming months" says Simon.
ESE Direct supplies UK businesses with storage solutions, workshop equipment and full design and installation services for changing rooms, offices, warehouse and trade / retail outlets, in addition to a wide range of health and safety equipment, manual handling products, signage and industrial and commercial equipment.
