Freefrom food producer Creative Nature has won a prestigious national FreeFrom Gold Award for its new Cacao Rich Chocolate Cake Baking Mix.
Just a few months after the team launched their latest baking mix it has been named the best product which contains none of the Top 14 food allergens which include nuts, wheat, dairy or gluten.
The team behind Creative Nature, based in West Molesey, were announced as virtual winners at the 2020 FreeFrom Awards on April 28.
Julianne Ponan, CEO of Creative Nature, said:
“My team and I are delighted to have won Gold in the No Top 14 Category as our whole mission and ethos is based around this! We create Delicious without Doubt products that are free from the top 14 allergens.
"I wanted to make it easy for everyone to eat after many years of missing out on cake at birthday parties or eat around friends’ houses because of my own allergies. It is also a perfect thing to do during lockdown and we offer not only a free from option but one that is super tasty and super easy.”
The awards celebrate excellence in freefrom products and have been judged annually since 2008. All winners can the display an excellence certification to demonstrate to consumers the highest quality standards. Food companies which enter must have products which are free from at least one of the top 14 allergens and that must be supported by independent laboratory reports.
An awards gala was held virtually and judges said of the baking mix:
“We really loved the dense chocolate flavour, This mix would be perfect for friends or relatives cooking for family members and it removes the need for lots of ingredients.”
Creative Nature has won numerous awards for its products and they also picked up a silver award in the same category for their chocolate orange flavour snack product, Gnawbles.
During lockdown the team at Creative Nature have seen a huge rise in sales around their baking mixes, especially on Amazon where sales have risen by over 500 per cent.
“Our mixes are delicious and they are easy. Many free from products can be difficult to get hold of on supermarket shelves now, and flour can be in short supply. Our baking mixes have been proving very popular and we’re extremely grateful for that. They are delicious for anyone regardless of whether you suffer from food allergies or intolerance,” Julianne said.
Julianne created the Creative Nature food brand nine years ago to help people like her. She has anaphylaxis and suffers from multiple food allergies. Finding quick and easy snacks or foods which could be trusted was her goal. Today she campaigns for better ingredient labelling across the food and drink sector.
