Over 10,000 people in the UK under the age of 65 suffered a fatal heart attack in 2014.

British Seniors, a leading provider of life insurance for over-50s, has created an interactive map charting the areas of the UK worst-affected by heart disease. The map reveals that residents in Scotland, the North of England and parts of Wales are more likely to suffer from heart disease than those in the South.

The map also:

  • Allows users to see the amount of deaths per 100,000 people in a given region.

  • Allows users to see the amount of deaths from heart disease per day in a given region.

With somebody in the UK suffering from a heart attack every three minutes, the importance of reducing fats, salt and calories in our diets has never been clearer.

Included within the map are recipes for six of the UK’s favourite dishes, revamped by nutritionist and personal trainer Harry Ranson, to reduce levels of fat, salt and calories without sacrificing taste or presentation.
