Bellrock Southern and Metcor Environmental have been jointly awarded the International Green Apple Environment Award 2024 for their Bellrock/Metcor Charity Initiative.
This recognition highlights the community impact of their efforts to make a difference, raising funds for Centrepoint at the same time as highlighting the plight of youth homelessness in the UK amongst the facilities management sectors.
Earlier this year, Bellrock, in partnership with Metcor Environmental, launched the Bellrock/Metcor Charity Challenge, a year-long campaign to raise awareness and vital funds for Centrepoint, the charity dedicated to ending youth homelessness. The initiative has already raised nearly £14,000 and continues to gain momentum in support of this critical cause.
Youth homelessness: a pressing issue
Speaking on the importance of the initiative, Jessica Smith, Bellrock’s organiser for the challenge, said: “Youth homelessness is a cause close to our hearts. These young people are the future occupiers, service partners, suppliers, and customers of tomorrow."
Daniel Bradley, sales and marketing director for Metcor Group, echoed this sentiment, adding: “We want as many people and businesses as possible to join us in supporting Centrepoint and making a difference in the lives of homeless youth. Together, we can create a brighter future for the next generation.”
Community-driven efforts
The Bellrock/Metcor Charity Challenge runs through to October 2024, featuring a series of engaging events designed to raise awareness and support for Centrepoint. These events, including a sponsored sleep-out in Dover and an Olympic-themed Sports Day in Orpington, brought together teams from across Bellrock and Metcor to drive action on youth homelessness.
A treasure hunt is also planned for 26 September in Bristol, with all proceeds supporting CenterPoint's mission to help homeless youth across the UK.
