Southbourne, England – November 28, 2012 – According to a recent study by Shelter, almost 25 percent of people feel that letting agents overcharge for their services. Charges for credit checks, administration fees and contract renewals were among the items that people claimed they were unfairly charged for.
In addition to charging tenants, letting agents also charge landlords for their services, but the study found that some letting agents double charge tenants and landlords for the same services. These things have led to a high level of distrust of letting agents that in many cases is justified.
Whilst many estate agencies have practices that need to be changed, Newstead Estate and Letting Agents prides itself on its transparent practices that ensure clients are receiving exactly what they pay for. The director of the estate agency, Carl Mirauer, has developed a price structure that is not only fair, but is one that ensures clients are not paying for services they don’t receive. "With our offer, our clients get our expertise, advice, knowledge and great customer service whilst at the same time getting a great value. Our tenants also receive the same level of expert service, receiving 24/7 support throughout the year."
The Association of Residential Lettings Agents has called for policy makers to act quickly to protect consumers. They are in the process of setting up their own licensing system for their members to ensure that letting agents have a high standard of practice.
