With just over a month until the UK takes part in the European Parliamentary elections, the new UK EU Party, campaigning to stop Brexit, has today launched a call for candidates and crowdfunding.

Founded by supporters of the People’s Vote March and signatories from the 6 million strong petition to revoke Article 50, the UK EU Party was registered last week as an official party for the 23rd May European elections.

The UK EU Party aims to field candidates in all regions of the UK — even given the tight time constraints (final lists must be submitted on Thursday 25th April 2019 with the exception of the South West where the deadline is a day earlier).

Candidates should be pro-EU, eligible to stand in the EU election (a British citizen or an EU citizen resident in the UK) and passionate about championing the cause of stopping Brexit in order that the UK remains in the EU. Candidates are not required to make a donation to the party.

Applications should be submitted to info@theukeuparty.org by 23:59 today, 23rd April 2019.

To field candidates in all regions of the UK requires a total of £60,000, with funding for the London region already secured. A Just Giving page has now been launched seeking to raise this initial amount by 23:59 on Thursday April 25 2019.

Standing for a kinder, gentler politics, we have one aim: to stop Brexit. We intend to become the only mainstream political party in the UK to stand for returning the country to the European Union.

In the longer term, The UK EU Party’s aim will be to contest any future UK General Election as the same ‘one policy, one purpose’ party, maintaining European Union membership as a central issue. This is the party’s raison d’être, but we also stand for a broader, inclusive, centrist form of politics.

As with the six million Remainers who backed the recent Petition to Revoke Article 50, and the one million people who took to the streets of London for The People’s March last month, those behind UKEUP have decided to act after seeing the chaos caused by the British Government and Opposition since the EU Referendum in 2016.
