The 7th Annual #MicroBizMatters Day is on Friday 8 January and more than one million freelancers, self-employed, and micro business owners will kick start the new business year by helping each other.
There are 5.6 million micro business owners in the UK with 0-9 employees and they are 95 per cent of all UK businesses contributing one third of UK employment and one fifth of UK turnover.
Donations will be collected for #ExcludedUK to help those of the 3 million in desperate need of mental health support or hardship food and heating.
There are 10 hours of digitally streamed learning sessions from more than 100 business owners covering all the sectors of the economy hardest hit by the pandemic.
Highlights include the small business commissioner, Philip King and the CEO of the Forum of Private Business, Ian Cass, giving positive cash-flow tips. There is advice on using video to sell when showrooms are closed, from the customer service king - Umesh Samani, of Specialist Cars. The multi award-winning Las Vegas female magician, Romany, explains how global entertainers get to the top and how they reinvent themselves for the new normal.
The digital broadcasting and social media event is hosted by Yorkshire in Business, the leading Enterprise Agency in Yorkshire with five buildings of workspace for business owners and free support to all start-ups in the region.
CEO Jenn Crowther, will join many of the 10 hours of learning sessions to showcase how Scarborough business owners are innovating and growing despite the pandemic. Sage UK is partnering Yorkshire in Business to help fund the free, accessible to all, #MicroBizMatters Day.
The day is fronted and produced by the co-funders and co-founders of the #MicroBizMatters movement, Tina Boden and Tony Robinson OBE who are undaunted by the latest lockdown.
Tina Boden explained: "We're just delighted that this 7th annual edition is where we live in Scarborough for the first time. It is a social media, particularly twitter and Facebook, event. That is the only way we can guarantee more than one million business owners will get involved.
"We were ahead of our time with the very first #MicroBizMatters Day which we held using Google Hangouts with Tony in a studio at Google for Work HQ in London with famous guests like Charlie Mullins OBE and the Mercury and MOBO Award winner, Sway and me joining studio and virtual guests from a ski resort in France.
"We'll miss the party atmosphere and showing off the premier seaside resort in the UK, but we've got many fabulous guests and tricks up our sleeve to ensure a fun and inspiring day with 10 hours of learning sessions with amazing guests and music and a fabulous quiz to finish the day. It may be all virtual but it will cheer everyone up."
Tony Robinson OBE added: "I can't wait. This year will be the biggest and best yet because every year more membership organisations and business networks get involved as well as promoting our 10-hour show. Our day of recognition, action, and learning engages with more indie business owners than any other enterprise focused social media event in the world.
"Our main objective is to get One Million Helping Hands - business owners helping each other and telling the world about it on twitter - using the #MicroBizMatters hashtag.
"But we also feature our four social media campaigns #NotAnSME, #Indie25ER, #PayIn30Days and #MicroBizMatters as a reminder to present and future governments that we will never stop trying to level the playing field.
"The merciless discrimination of the 3 million #ExcludedUK shows how necessary our informal movement and #MicroBizMatters Day is.
"I've designated 2021 The Year of The Happipreneur in the UK as it will be a record year for start ups and as we've said in our new book, the pandemic has made it clear to many that controlling their own destiny is important and living a happy, enterprising life doing what you love has never been more fulfilling."
