Primrose has spent the last three weeks searching for the perfect candidate to win our £1000 cash donation to be used on a care home garden. We are passionate that time spent in the garden can significantly reduce stress, stimulate the mind and boost the spirits of everyone. This is clearly a view that is shared by many others too, seeing as we’ve had nearly fifty entries already!

Zoe Henry, a marketing executive at Primrose spent four years caring for the elderly before joining the company says “We are seeing so many thoughtful nominations coming in from relatives of those in care, staff at care homes and people from the local community who are passionate about helping their local care home. It’s great to see such a sense of community and everybody joining together for such a lovely cause.”

We are finding that lots of the entries wish to use the prize money towards a ‘sensory’ garden that would help calm the residents with fragrant flowers, herbs and gentle sounds that will help engage all of the senses. We’ve found that many care homes also wish to utilise their gardens more, but due to the current state of their communal garden it is not safe for the residents to be outside and therefore use it on the rare occasion. We hope to raise awareness of the importance of spending time outside as part of this campaign, as the benefits are endless!

It is really easy to enter a care home you care about, all you have to do is email with a nomination of a care home which includes your story about why they deserve the prize and accompanying photos of the current communal garden. All entries must be in by midnight on the 31st of July. More details on this can be found on the Primrose blog.
