Querencia offers a shadowing day beforehand where they get paired with an experienced contractor, on their first day they attend a morning meeting when they find out some necessary information in a fun environment, plus they get to spend some time with the company's Managing Director, who has an open-door policy.
Wake up early and be on time! A person's first day at work is not an appropriate time to be up and out of the house in 15 minutes. It is important to be dressed appropriately to the working environment and to leave the house in plenty of time in case of delays. Aim to arrive 15 minutes early.
Get to know people and vice versa! Smile and introduce yourself and be sure to find out about other people’s roles in the company. Get to know other people during lunch and be sure to demonstrate a friendly and approachable nature.
Plan for the following day before leaving! Linger a little longer to take note of what has been learned, (people's names!) and also any questions that might need to be asked the next day.
