Social media and digital marketing experts at MySocialAgency London and Leeds, are proud to announce the release of a new, charitable Facebook app development project, which they have created for Samsung and the Blue Cross
Help-a-Dog-a-Thon is designed to share the companies’ commitment and care of dogs and calls for help from dog lovers everywhere to join in and help. The app allows users to sign up for a “virtual rescue dog” in order to help provide vital health checks for homeless dogs taken in by pet charity Blue Cross.
Samsung has a long history of supporting animal welfare and is also involved in funding Samsung Guide Dogs for the Blind, the only one of its kind in Korea. The electronics company also works with the International Guide Dogs for the Blind (IGDF). It has received the Lesley Scott-Ordish Award for its work and contributions towards the welfare of dogs.
The Facebook app, developed exclusively by My Social Agency, allows Blue Cross to raise the £20,000 necessary to give 2000 dogs full health checks. These include checking the animal’s condition, weight, heart and breathing, as well as hearing and sight.
To get involved, Facebook users simply like the page and adopt their very own best friend. Then it’s just a case of interacting with the virtual dog to ensure that it’s happy and healthy.
For every virtual dog that Facebook users adopt, Samsung will make a contribution towards a health check for a homeless dog before it goes on to be rehoused. Kids will love the app, which can only be played in a computer browser and have their very own virtual pet to look after, whilst knowing they are helping a real dog.
MySocialAgency Director, Mark Mitchell said: "We’re thrilled to have been involved with the development of an app such as this, which helps animals. We encourage everyone to pay a visit to the app and get involved today. It costs nothing but a couple of minutes and helps the Blue Cross in their work enormously."
