While the effort is increasing, the sentiment may not be landing. According to a new survey by MyVoucherCodes, the number one gift dads actually want is a day out. What they’re more likely to receive? A bottle of something or a meal out! Bit of a difference!
This mismatch is fuelling what WonderDays is calling “the silent disappointment” of Father’s Day—when well-meaning gifts just don’t quite hit the mark.
“Dads rarely say anything, but the stats tell the story,” says Shaun Howells of WonderDays. “It’s not about the money—it’s about being seen, appreciated and spending time together. That’s where experience gifts come in.”
To help Brits gift better this Father’s Day, WonderDays is sharing four tips inspired by MyVoucherCodes findings—plus how they’re making each one easier and more affordable:
1. Plan Ahead
Booking early doesn’t just save money—it ensures availability for in-demand experiences like hot air balloon rides, track days, theatre tickets or river cruises.
2. Be Creative
From bread-making to pottery throwing and photography workshops, experience gifts let dads create memories (and actual things) rather than gather more ‘stuff’.
3. Club Together
Pooling money with siblings or friends means a bigger gift that doesn’t stretch one person’s budget. WonderDays offers experience packages for groups of up to six, so the whole family can join in—unless he picks skydiving, of course.
4. Look for Discounts
Many people assume experience days are pricey—but WonderDays currently offers up to 50% off selected Father’s Day favourites, including:
