Almost 1,000 of the top industry’s professionals gathered at the sell-out gala night at the London Park Lane Hilton to witness the actor James Nesbitt announce the award winners for 2018. The judging panel included Geoff Tate, Chairman, SSAIB, Richard Jenkins, Chief Executive, National Security Inspectorate and Dr Alison Wakefield, Chairman of The Security institute.

VPS had already marked up a notable achievement by being a shortlisted finalist in a record five categories, including Security Installer of the Year. Up against competing finalists such as Panasonic and (also a strategic partner) G4S, it was their new market-leading website portal, VPS Insights, that won the Customer Care Initiative of the Year.

“The new portal is so user friendly. It puts customers’ needs first by delivering the desired information in a quick and simple format. Being able to prioritise reports on the new portal has really helped us pick up the bigger issues and also request additional works from VPS.” Said Sophie Goodwin, Property Administrator for Workman LLP, when the portal was launched this year.

Managing Director of VPS Guardians, Doug Edwards, also won against stiff competition that included the National Security Inspectorate, for Contribution to Standards in the Security Sector, for his initiative in bringing the UK’s leading property guardian companies together to form a standard-benchmarking trade association, The PGPA.

Now in their nineteenth year, Security & Fire Excellence Awards has consistently broken new ground in highlighting the very best people, projects and processes that the security and fire sectors have to offer.
