Former Sunday Times news editor Greg Hadfield has been named head of digital development and will be responsible for 'the integration of data and commercial partnerships', according to a press release from the publisher.

Hadfield, who founded and sold the websites Soccernet and Schoolsnet , will begin his new role by developing the title's online sports coverage.

He is joined by Tim Rowell, who was previously managing director of healthcare data supplier Dr Foster Research and has been named digital publisher at the group.

Rowell will oversee the development of Telegraph.co.uk's motoring, finance, fashion, technology and travel channels.

Last year Rowell led the introduction of a new Escenic web publishing system at the Telegraph .
