Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has named Maani Safa as its new head of mobile, a press release from the publisher has announced.
Safa has been involved in the launch of the Telegraph's mobile applications, which include a Google Android app released last October and relaunch of its mobile news site in August .
He has also spent the last 12 months setting up the Telegraph development 'lab' space.
Safa is joined by Mike Jennings, a former senior software engineer for Google, who will take responsibility for mobile engineering at TMG. Jennings was also part of the developer team behind the search engine's Android mobile platform.
At last year's World Editors Forum (WEF) TMG's chief information officer, Paul Cheesbrough, talked to Journalism.co.uk about the group's mobile strategy .
