Many news organisations have been under fire for their lack of newsroom diversity and hiring practices, which seem to make it more difficult for female journalists and minorities to enter the workforce.
Some of the UK's major broadcasters have begun an initiative to compile and analyse data about how diverse their hiring and commissioning practices are.
Adam Ragusea, host of The Pub podcast, rounded up seven ways the public media sector in the US can attract a more diverse workforce over on Current, advice which can be replicated in other newsrooms too. His advice includes using the content produced by the outlet as a recruiting tool.
