Twitter is one of the main platforms where journalists congregate to share their work, praise other people's work or engage in heated discussion about the future of the media industry.

But not every relevant piece of news or journalism tips that are being shared make their way into people's overcrowded timelines.

To help, former NPR digital strategist Melody Kramer compiled a comprehensive list of social media groups, some of which would've perhaps remained unknown, particularly to those just starting out in journalism.

They range from Twitter hashtags to Facebook groups and Slack channels, covering topics from jobs to public media and identity-specific issues.
