In the age of countless news sources online and growing distrust in the media, it is more important than ever to ensure your newsroom is doing all it can to maintain your readers' confidence in your content.
Check out these five ways to build trust with your audience going into 2017 by Laurie Beth Harris, editorial coordinator of the American Press Institute (API). Harris lists the themes that emerged after API asked reporters from a range of large publications to come up with their own ideas for how journalists can build trust with their readers.
One of the recommendations is to be more transparent about how you report, where Harris acknowledges that audiences are often unaware of what actually happens during the reporting process, and explaining it to them could increase trust in your work.
