Live-tweeting from events is a good opportunity to share your new knowledge with those who couldn't attend. But it also helps you connect with the community there and make new contacts, as well as write up an accurate record of the day to remember in your future reporting.
Mass communication professor Kenna Griffin has put together a guide to becoming a successful live-tweeter, explaining what you should do before, during and after the event to get the most out of the day.
Griffin recommends preparing for the event by finding the official hashtag, then introducing speakers and topics discussed on the day to your social media audience. After the event, she recommends doing some post-processing, such as creating a Storify showcasing the best tweets.
