Broadcast interviews can be tough, especially if it is a live recording. There’s pressure to get your message out there, often in a limited amount of time.

Guy Clapperton, a senior journalist writing on his media blog Clapperton Media Associates, advises in this article that getting your message in fast is the absolute priority. It comes down to the short attention span of your audience, which he conveys using the statistic that you have, on average, eight seconds before viewers will lose their concentration.

Acknowledging the question is also crucial: “Nobody likes to hear someone ignoring the point completely,” he points out.
