Without feedback in your newsroom, the status quo is allowed to continue unchallenged. With a healthy feedback loop, new creative ideas and better ways of working can flourish.

As nice as this idea sounds, it can be tricky in execution. A good resource to use for guidance comes from a research paper by Morten Frich, editor of Politiken in Denmark, published by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.

It includes a checklist for feedback, guidance on becoming a feedback leader, literature resources as well as effective ways to confront bias, prejudice and bullying.

"Implementing feedback should never be a tick-box exercise. Do it with the aim of encouraging excellence, innovation, great digital solutions, and opportunities for new business," writes Frich.
