According to the latest figures from the National Readership Survey, more than half of UK readers of national titles including the Guardian and The Independent only consume news on their mobile devices.

But news on mobile is different to print, online or broadcast, as you can lose your readers within seconds if the headline is boring or there's too much information.

BBC News mobile editor Nathalie Malinarich summed up the 'bite-size' basics of writing for mobile in this BBC College of Journalism post. She suggests keeping headlines short and factual, avoiding "long, dropped" intros and paraphrasing long quotes to keep the story tight.
