Whether you’re planning to one day craft the perfect tweet to take the internet by storm, or you simply tweet a joke that becomes way more popular than you thought it was going to be, having a tweet go viral can be both exciting and scary.

Abigail Edge, former technology editor at Journalism.co.uk, now a freelance journalist and editor based in the United States, tweeted a joke about a mistake in one of Trump's tweets – her comment was liked and retweeted so many times she had to dive into the settings and turn off some of the notifications.

She wrote a blog post outlining her experience, sharing some of the ways she managed the sudden influx of notifications and replies, as well as three reasons why she thinks her tweet became so popular.
