Trinity Mirror has joined the UK Association of Online Publishers (AOP) as a full member.
Matt Brittin, director of strategy and digital for Trinity Mirror, will represent the publisher on the AOP Board.
Trinity Mirror’s portfolio holds more than 500 media brands, including 300 websites.
Mr Brittin said: "With more than 8 million unique users across our portfolio of websites, Trinity Mirror is now among the leading online players in the UK. As such, we are keen to engage more closely with others leading and influencing the development of UK online publishing."
He added: "We are delighted to join the AOP and hope to play a full part as members, drawing on the expertise of our digital teams and the hundreds of other employees around the group for whom online activity is a major part of their responsibilities."
