The workshop will teach the fundamentals for producing high quality video from the field with an iPhone and iPad. It focuses primarily on iOS devices, but it will also include tips and advice for Android and Windows phones.

How is this workshop run?

As with all Journalism.co.uk courses, the training will have an emphasis on practical, hands-on learning.
Delegates will participate in exercises that involve interviewing, filming, editing, and sharing video with an iPhone or iPad.

What do I need?

Please bring:  An iPad or iPhone running iOS8 is recommended in order to take part in all of the exercises. A laptop is helpful for taking notes and building story packages from mobile content.

Participants will get a comprehensive list of apps, gear and accounts to set up before the workshop.

About Robb Montgomery

From designing a mobile-first newsroom in Georgia, US, to training Egyptian journalists on documentary film, Robb has fully embraced the idea of storytelling going mobile no matter the locale.

He taught visual editing and storytelling at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and at the International Academy of Journalism, and also developed the smartphone reporting training, technology and workflows used by hundreds of Radio Free Europe (RFE/RL) reporters and correspondents.

Robb is the author of A Field Guide for Mobile Journalism and a former editor at the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times.
