The World Association of Newspapers (WAN) and World Editors Forum (WEF) have announced new dates for their annual conference The WAN/WEF event , which was due to take place between March 22-25 in Hyderabad, India, was postponed last month as a result of the economic downturn.
The rescheduled meeting will now take place on November 30 to December 3.
"The economic crisis has hit travel and conference budgets and has had a profound impact on participation in the events. Our belief is that newspaper companies will, by necessity, learn to live with the crisis over the year and be more willing to invest again in conferences and travel by the end of the year," said Timothy Balding, CEO of WAN, in an announcement on the association's site. It is hoped 2,000 senior newspaper executives will attend the international event. Read Journalism.co.uk's coverage of last year's conference in Gothenburg, Sweden.
