With immediate effect, readers of the European print edition of the Wall Street Journal are to get access to its online publication via a daily login code printed in the newspaper.

After initial registration, readers will be able to redeem the daily coupon from the newspaper for access to one of the web's largest paid for news site.

"With this new addition, the value they [the Wall Street Journal Europe readers] receive when they buy a copy of the newspaper increases dramatically," said Rick Zednik, circulation-marketing director.

"These customers will be able to customise their home page and set various preferences, which will be retained when they log back in on another day, just as it is for subscribers."
