Police today (Tuesday, 27 March) confirmed that a man arrested on 18 August last year in connection with phone hacking has been released from bail and will face "no further action".
He is reported to be former US editor of the News of the World James Desborough.
In a statement the Metropolitan police service said: "On August 18, 2011, officers from Operation Weeting arrested a 39-year-old man (K) in connection with phone hacking.
"He was today, Tuesday, 27 March, released from bail with no further action."
At the time of the arrest in August, the man was named in the press as James Desborough.
