The Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) will over the course of the coming year release web traffic information every month for publishers who use its group product report.
The group product report is a new format that combines audited data for both print edition and website of national publications.
Until now, it has been rare for newspapers to publish data of web traffic and print circulation on a regular basis.
Chris Boyd, chief executive at ABC, said: "A number of the national newspapers have already committed to providing the market with audited web traffic data alongside their print edition figures, and the ability to report both sets of data in a group product report format will aid advertisers and buyers in making their buying decisions with the brand, whether online or offline.
"A regular report date for these national newspapers further underlines the importance of transparent and comparable circulation and audience data as a robust trading currency for the buying and selling of media space, regardless of channel."
