The Association of Online Publishers has launched their digital publishing awards for 2012, with three new categories which will aim to recognise publishers' use of social media, digital-only media outlets and "the importance of supplier companies and startups".

Entries can now be submitted to the annual awards, which last year saw News International's digital subscription product, including its paywalled websites and apps, take away the Launch prize. This year the awards offer a total of 17 main categories, with separate prizes available for business and consumer media applicants in three of those categories: Editorial Team 2012, Business/Consumer Digital Publisher 2012 and Business/Consumer.

There are three new categories in this year's awards: the Use of Social Media 2012, Pureplay Digital Publisher 2012 and Technology Partner 2012, said to focus on highlighting "the importance of supplier companies and startups to media owners' future success".

Following its introduction in 2011 the awards will also offer a "Grand Prix 2012", the winner of which which will be selected by the judging panel from the collection of winning entries.

More information on how to enter the awards can be found online and the closing date of 16 March. The winners ceremony will take place on 19 July.
