The BBC and the NUJ have reached 'agreement in principle' in their dispute over job cuts, according to a joint statement from the organisations .
The agreement is subject to acceptance by a consultative ballot of NUJ, BECTU and UNITE 's membership.
The announcement comes at the end of an extended ballot on whether industrial action should be taken by the joint unions over job cuts, pensions and cuts to terms and conditions.
"We're pleased the imminent threat of compulsory redundancies has been addressed and that all the staff required to work unpredictable hours will continue to get a fair deal," said Jeremy Dear, NUJ general secretary.
"These negotiations now give us a basis on which we can address further changes proposed by the BBC."
