Anthony Thomas and Saeed Kamali Dehgahan, joint winners in the Journalist of the Year category

The BBC News website's UK general election coverage was recognised with a Foreign Press Association Media Awards last night.

The Election 2010 team won the web innovation prize of the General Election Live site, which acted as a hub for live blog, video and news coverage, beating competition from the Guardian's Eyewitness iPad app and Sky News' Fallen Heroes site .

Anthony Thomas and Saeed Kamali Dehgahan, who won the TV Feature/Documentary Award for 'For Neda' about the life and death of Iranian protestor Neda Agha-Soltan, were jointly named as Journalist of the Year.

Channel 4 News took home two FPA Media Awards with Nick Martin winning TV News Story of the Year for 'Mexican Girls' and international editor Lindsey Hilsum taking the environment prize for her report on extraction of essential minerals for low carbon technologies by workers in China.
