Sometimes as your eye lazily skims down the page, half-reading every third word, a little something in the back of the brain nudges you back into full-consciousness - 'did I really just read that?'

Usually the eye and the brain conspire, tricking you into thinking that you have just read something wholly sensational about the Prime Minister's ability to read the minds of women, al la Mel Gibson in

What Women Want

Alas, you re-read and the part where you thought it read: 'he knew Home Secretary would admit to smoking dope before she did', actually read: 'Prime Minster is to re-grade cannabis as a level B, rather than level C, drug.'

Well today you might have been forgiven for thinking that something similar was happening as you skim read the story about bus theft posted to the website of the Paisley Daily Express - IC Renfrewshire.co.uk on 12 July.

'Did I really read it?' you think. 'No'.

Oh yes you did.

The story really does refer to the youth accused of stealing the bus as 'the brainless twat' who was charged by Police with, amongst other things, 'road traffic offences including driving while boozed-up'. Perhaps this is needed .
