The British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME) has announced the shortlist for its annual Editors' Editor of the Year Award.

Six editors have made the shortlist: Lorraine Candy, editor-in-chief at Elle; Gillian Carter, editorial director at Good Food; Sue James, editorial director at Woman&Home; John Micklethwait, editor-in-chief at the Economist; Michelle Pamment, editor at M&S magazine; and Morgan Rees, editorial director for Men's Health, who won the 2009 Editors' Editor of the Year prize .

BSME will announce the shortlists for its other prize categories later this month. This year's awards include a new category recognising sport, leisure and health journalism.

The winners will be named on 9 November.
