Channel 4 News has named the winner of its inaugural young blogger competition .

Louise Jones, 17, took the prize for her post about the impact of the 9/11 attacks on her as a young person on her blog Teen:Dreaming... , which she began in 2009. She has won the chance to blog for the Channel 4 News website for a week on issues in the news affecting young people.

Jon Snow, Channel 4 News presenter and one of the competition's judges, will interview Jones on air later today. He described her blog as "funny, topical": "But most importantly, it felt like her immediate reflections on the world around her - not an essay or a print article. I know she will be a brilliant addition to our site – and I look forward to asking her more tonight."

Jones says she hopes to one day write as a columnist for a magazine or newspaper. Her blog was named the winner alongside three highly commended entries to the competition by Reni Eddo-Lodge , Cory Hazlehurst and Jack Losh .
